Minister of Agriculture Jahad said that in order to prevent water wastage in the agricultural sector and the implementation of integrated watershed management (IWM) projects, some 2,000 billion RLs was allocated from the special budget which was considered for president's visit to Semnan province.

According to FRWO's website, quoted from IRNA, Seyyed Javad Sadati-Nejad in the administrative council of Semnan province held in the Red Crescent assembly hall of this province on Thursday evening stated: "Some 300 billion RLs from special budget for president's visit to Semnan province to combat desertification, some 160 billion RLs to complete building the 100,000 ton Garmsar silo structure, some 500 billion RLs for restoration and the revival of qanats is dedicated to Semnan province".

He stated: "It is notable that some 350 billion RLs for water supply system and repair and construction of nomadic roads, some 200 billion RLs for the development in gardening on steep slope lands and some 700 billion RLs for strengthening infrastructure and greenhouse development in Semnan province was earmarked from the special budget considered for president's visit to Semnan province".

The Minister of Agriculture Jahad, stating that greenhouse cultivation in Semnan province has not developed as expected, reiterated: "Based on the plans, about 100 hectares of greenhouse cultivation should be increased annually in Semnan province."

Referring to the capacity of Semnan province in the field of cultivation of medicinal herbs, Sadati-Nejad emphasized: "The development of cultivation of medicinal herbs as an optimizing yield and water-use efficiency cultivation should be considered and put on the agenda.

He reminded: "About 47,000 farmers are working in the agricultural sector of Semnan province and 18% of the employment share of this province is related to agriculture sector".

The Minister of Agriculture Jahad pointed out that the share of value added in Semnan province in the agricultural sector is 18% and the value of the province's agricultural exports is $ 35 million per year.
